Biography

I grew up in a small town in northern Maine. I didn't learn to knit during my small town years, as seems to be the case with most knitters. Instead, I was a quilter from a family of quilters.

Studio apartment life isn't exactly suited to quilting, and I was frankly burnt out on the whole process, so I took up knitting around new years of 2004 and am now obsessed!

During the day I write articles about poo for an environmental consulting firm. After, I go home to my abstract painter boyfriend. We recently rented an apartment in the largest complex of artist condos in the U.S., so he has a studio.

My Jobby--a term one of my coworkers defines as a joblike hobby that brings in little money but lots of personal satisfaction, is being a fiction writer. I write literary fiction and some genre fiction in the hardboiled detective/mystery and horror genres.

I spend a lot of my time shopping, particularly for shoes. Unfortunately, Boston cobblestones aren't four inch spike friendly.
